Generating High Quality Leads from your website

A carefully thought through website can be a very effective tool to generate high quality leads for your business. This month’s newsletter focuses on practical ideas to ensure your website attracts the right sort of enquiries.

Feature: Creating a website to attract your ideal client
This feature looks at what you should have on your website in order for an ideal client to begin interacting with you. An obvious starting point in to have a clear picture of your ideal client. Think about what would appeal to them, what information they would find useful, how they like to work and structure your website in a way which will appeal to them.

High quality information
When it comes to information on your website it is definitely quality rather than quantity that counts. Think about your ideal client and what information they would need to know in order to make that next step in the sales process? For a product retailer this might be dimensions and close up images, for a service company it might be their people or the way they deliver their services. Make sure this information is easily located on your website.

Pricing Information?

Have a strong action point
Throughout the website think what do you want your website visitor to do next? Ensure this action point is prominent on the website. Ensure if visitors to your website are eager to act that they know how to and the tools are in place for them to do so.

Managing Leads
Now you are generating leads from your website you need to have the processes in place to manage these leads. You may need to set service standards within your organisation to respond to them. For example if someone emails an enquiry you might want to get back to them within a specified period e.g. 2 hours during the working day. Ensure the right person in your organisation receives the leads, so they can responds accordingly. Monitor the leads you get through your website and whether they translate to business, and fine tune your website to maximise the business you generate through it. This is an ongoing process.

Top Tip: Email with Confidence

If you want to instil confidence in prospective customers to make contact with you ensure you have a professional email address. A recent research poll of 1500 consumers found that 88 per cent would choose to purchase from a business that had a corporate email address such as sales@greatbusiness.com, over one that had just a free email address such as greatbusiness@hotmail.com. Skiing instructor Sophie Nieboer has swapped guiding learners down the slopes to guiding businesses to greater success as Zarr’s new sales manager.

Case Study: Sitting Firm

Sitting Firm is a traditional English furniture manufacturer based on Coventry, selling primarily to trade buyers in the UK and overseas. Sitting Firm wanted a website that would illustrate the quality and craftsmanship of their products. Zarr developed the site (www.sittingfirm.co.uk), which displays their range of over 200 products so that it can be updated as new products are added to the range or new materials introduced. Visitors to the site can see full product details, including size and materials and send a wish list of products they are interested in to Sitting Firm.

Within 1 week of the new site being launched Sitting Firm had their first enquiry from a new trade buyer in Italy, within 2 months of launch they had almost 100 enquiries from the site and more than 60 people registered to be kept informed about future product launches and special offers, including 26 trade contacts. All of this was achieved even before any on-line promotion of the site.
