The Internet can play an important role for clubs and associations – as a well developed website can recruit new members and becoming a reference point for existing members. It can serve its membership by giving them access to useful information at their convenience.
Community websites can include the following:
Zarr has worked with a number of associations and member organisations to develop significant websites to serve their membership and support their offline activities.
The Autocycle Union, the Governing Body for Motorcycle Sport, turned to Zarr to develop a website aimed at providing an information service to its 33,000 members as well as an online shop. The site www.acu.org.uk has already achieved staggering results with the number of hits daily trebling and membership increasing.
Gary Thompson, General Secretary of the ACU, said: “Zarr has provided a complete re-vamp of our website and made it more modern and easier to navigate. Since turning to Zarr the number of hits we’ve had on a daily basis has nearly trebled and our membership has increased.”
The List is a leading nationwide business network, of HM forces and ex-service people, which currently has 8,000 members. Run by a team of former Service members The List provides contact details of thousands of serving members of HM forces and ex-service people who are either in business or seeking work and is supported by a nationwide network of monthly meetings. Visitors to the website can network online through the message boards and search for members who can help them to make the transition between military and civilian life.
One of the key aims of The List is to help members find employment when they leave the forces so List members are given access to job opportunities via the website and are automatically notified when jobs matching their requirements are added to the website. They can then update their profile when they have found a job so they no longer receive job information.
